Basket Ball Coaches...

Thoughts behind the new appointments of national team coaches

2010-10-22 12:19

The days became the coach names 24 for Sweden's youth national team eight public. Some names are familiar from the 2010 season, but some are new. And there are a number of new coach formations to become familiar with.

Below is a presentation of the 2011 national team coach's name and a comment from youth team manager Per Källman.

Women U20
Head Coach: Fred Joulamo (Jurgita Kausaite)
Assistant Coach: Niklas Andersson (Leila Mengüc)
Assistant Coach: Maria Näsström (Francisco Pinto)

Per Källmans comment: "Jurgita Kausaite needed a timeout after four tough years of the mission. Then there was a gap. As the Micke Johansson and Fredrik Joulamo now both work at Lulea Basketgymnasium felt team management that they needed to be separated. It is very important to get outside influences and by Johansson and Joulamo twelve months a year there was not much of a gap for something like that. Joulamo and Mary Näsström were coaches for DU18 summer 2010 and will hang together in 2011, but now the DU20. New third link is Niklas "Nisse" Andersson from Helsingborg. Anderson is an industrious and hard working basketball guy who will complement Joulamo and Näsström in an excellent manner. As far as possible would also have a coach formations with geographical distribution. Why were you in southern Sweden, and when Anderson's application was received and the team management had valued so it was no hesitation on. Anderson had national team even in the 1990s. "

Men U20
Head Coach: Jan Enjebo (Matthew Kent)
Assistant Coach: Stefan Bergman (Jan Enjebo)
Assistant Coach: Dennis Pihl (Viktor Bengtsson)

Per Källmans commentary: "Matthew Kenttä would actually continue as head coach for HU20 and he thought long on this before he decided that he had no chance. Kent, who was the first coach of the educated who were picked up as early as 2000, are now on the "time out" list. January Enjebo now moving up to head coach and get new assistant coach Stefan Bergman and Dennis Pihl with him. Enjebo has a long and solid background and has been in ten years in a row in team activities. He knows the backbone of the group in a good way. Because everything is about creating teams that can be merged to suit Bergman and Pihl, both of which have been in the past, perfectly. None of them was not to last year and we'd love to have with them. This was an opportunity. "

Women U18
Head Coach: Mikael Johansson (Frederick Joulamo)
Assistant Coach: Johan Ericsson (Michael Jackson)
Assistant Coach: Viktor Bengtsson (Maria Näsström)

Per Källmans comment: "Micke Johansson, Sweden's most successful youth team coach (two European Championship bronze and one World Championship silver) are as usual (since 2005) with DU18. There is good and exciting for our players to pass through Johansson eminent ability to describe the basketball game. The basic idea is that players must pass the coaches of having to prove themselves and not go on past achievements. Team Activities relating to development and Johansson are good at addressing these girls. Johansson has a new assistant coach Johan Ericsson and Viktor Bengtsson in his staff. I am very fond of what I've seen in Ericsson's three years in the national team. And I do not pretend that it's great, and a pool of resources, with women leaders. Had there been more so would love to have at least one female coach on the boys' teams also. As the structured Bengtsson guy is, he fits cleanly into these two clever instructors [Johansson and Ericsson]. Bengtsson is a smart and good guy. "

Men U18
Head Coach: Olle Lunden (Olle Lunden)
Assistant Coach: David Gentleman (Mr Gentleman)
Assistant Coach: Jonathan Haile (Jonathan Haile)

Per Källmans comment: "Here is the exact same trio that during the summer of 2010 will apply. And why not? Olle Lunden and David Gentleman is in its fourth year together and they have done a sterling job. I now look forward to the new players (94: s) get the chance to be coached by them. Jonathan Haile was the last year and has before it appeared on an internship through their GIH studies. People often talk about the team Lundén / Gentleman. In the future I would like to see it was as natural to talk about the team Lundén / Leman / Haile. "

Women U16
Head Coach: Henrik Wikström (Peter Jackson)
Assistant Coach: Malin Holmqvist (Johanna Ericsson)
Assistant Coach: Jenny Håkansson (Jens Tillman)

Per Källmans comment: "Paul Burke, who had these girls in the DU15, was unable to do more, given its function in Dolphins and their private lives. I am very grateful for the job that Burke did last year. Henrik Wikström, who last spring led Sundsvall Saints to the semifinals of Damligan, moving up from the DU15 DU16. The same promotion will also Malin Holmqvist from the catalog. It is good to Wikstrom and Holmes, who know the girls are having. Jenny Håkansson is a coach who has gone out of region operations. "

Men U16
Head Coach: Chris Stjernborg (Jan Jackson)
Assistant Coach: Megan Fastenberg (Vedran Bosnic)
Assistant Coach: Nikoilaidis Panagiotis (Stefan Timbus)

Per Källmans comment: "Christer Stjernborg, who started the job with this team last season, becoming head coach for the HU16. It feels natural. In 15-16 years, it is important that the coaches are with their players than vice versa. In such a young age is so much of the groundwork. It is based on the selection, training and insight on what it means to be a national player. Here we work with a broad mass narrows over time. Jorgen Fastenberg and Nikoilaidis "Jotti" Panagiotis will fit very well with Stjernborg. "

Women U15
Head Coach: Jens Tillman (Paul Burke)
Assistant Coach: Peter Johansson (Henrik Wikström)
Assistant Coach: Leila Mengüc (Malin Holmqvist)

Per Källmans comment: "Peter Jackson usually pick up a group of U15 and then delivers them on a couple of years later. Johansson was the head coach of the DU16 last summer and Jens Tillman was one of his assistant coaches. This year will be the opposite. The reason for this is both simple and complex. One could easily draw a parallel to the DU18, where Micke Johansson and Fredrik Joulamo changed so that Joulamo, from being Johansson's assistant, became head coach before the summer of 2010. But it is not the whole truth. Sometimes you have to try things out. It may be that Tillman as head coach gives the opportunity for Peter Jackson to become a sort of Swedish version of Tex Winter [as long, although he was much older, was Phil Jackson's assistant coach]. Leila Mengüc was assistant in DU20 last summer and now fits in very nicely with Tillman and Jackson. "

Men U15
Head Coach: Tommie Hanson (Chris Stjernborg)
Assistant Coach: Henrik Svensson (Jorgen Solid Rock)
Assistant Coach: Francisco Pinto (Nikoilaidis Panagiotis)

Per Källmans comment: "It is important to put the former national team coaches on the" timeout ", so that they can come back easily. Now, we have Tommie Hansen on "time out" and I'm pleased that he now takes over the important role of HU15. The key is to have as good leaders as possible on the very young, because that is when it can affect the most. Henry Smith is coach of the department offer a daily basis and, like Jenny Håkansson the DU16, stuck out in the region of activity in the past year. The coaches participating in team activities will benefit from this personally, and not least, the clubs where they are active, very much "benefit" of their leaders have been out in an international perspective. Francisco Pinto, who now coaches the youth in police, epitomizes (along with Dennis Pihl) the term "basketball coach" in comparison with the "girl and kill coaches". "

The process of adding physio to the national team staffs are not yet clear, however, is the long time and will be ready in the near future.
